Whispering WoodsMembers Quarterly News Letter |
MaintenanceThe maintenance staff at Whispering Woods Golf Club has recently completed several projects to ensure the course is ready for the summer heat. First and foremost, they have replaced the
#2 water pump that had been out of commission since late October. Now that
the pump house is fully operational we can expect to have sufficient water
coverage throughout the course. Also dozens of sprinkler heads
throughout the course have been rewired and changed in an attempt to
alleviate some of the baked out areas of years past. Drainage projects completed in the past
several months began with grading the cart path on the #7 fairway. This,
along with several trenches that were strategically placed around the course
will help eliminate wash out areas that have plagued the course in the past.
Also a few landing areas in front of greens have been re-shaped in order to
help remove excess water from the greens. Please feel free to come by the shop
with any questions or concerns, and remember course Aerification begins on
Tuesday May 29th. Up Coming

First Tee
Program More than 500 kids have
been in the First Tee Program since it started here in 2003. This program is
about much more than playing golf as quoted in “The Pilot” by Al Arrigoni
(Director of the First Tee Program). It teaches kids the Nine Core Values,
which are honesty, integrity, perseverance, confidence, judgment,
responsibility, sportsmanship, courtesy and respect. Stuart Taylor, and the members of
Whispering Woods Golf Club are proud to be a part of making the First Tee
Program successful and enjoyable for all of the members. Brandon Mawyer, a member
of the First Tee Program (also pictured in “The Pilot”) helped his team to a
second-place finish in the Sunbelt Pro-Am at Whispering Woods. |
