Whispering Woods Members Quarterly News Letter |
Maintenance The 1st
Aerification of the course will take place on February 5th, 6th
and 7th. With
the onset of cold weather, the maintenance staff at Whispering Woods has
begun several detailing projects throughout the course. One of these you may
have noticed is the small waste area to the right of #11 tee box. In the
upcoming months they will incorporate a waste area in the location that is
currently the #4 cart path. Several types of bunch grasses will be added to
this area along with a complete overhaul of the drainage issues that have
plagued this location.
Routine winter maintenance and cleanup
has left the wetlands on #16 and the ditch between #12 and #14 free of weeds
and debris. These wetlands and the one to the right of #15 should be complete
in the near future. The crew just completed the
fertilization of the over-seeded tees and green surrounds before the rain
event Thanksgiving week. Soil samples have also been taken on the greens to ensure that soil nutrients are at the proper level. |
Joy Ride Gone BAD On November 3rd,
some time late in the evening six young men decided to help themselves to 3
carts from the storage area and cruise around the golf course. Unfortunately one of the carts ended up in the drainage ditch at the bottom of hole #8 and one of the young men was seriously injured. The Whispering Pines Police Department
is investigating the incident, and Whispering Woods Golf Club is seeking
restitution for the damaged cart. Whispering Woods Golf Club will also be
installing some motion lights in and around the basement storage area. This is the 1st incident in 6
years Spring Ladies Clinic Stuart Taylor and a Guest Teacher will
be holding a Spring Ladies Clinic on February 26th and 27th
from One day will be for Short Game lessons at the practice area near hole # 10 at Whispering Woods followed by lunch at WW Grill Room, and one day will be for Full Swing lessons at
